The Bored Apes takeover the VMAs and the Ethereum merge is very close

Introduction

This week has been an incredible one for Web3!

We had everything from Snoop Dogg and Eminem performing in the meta verse with their bored apes at the VMAs to twitter obsessing over a certain picture of Vitalik Buterin.

In this news letter we shall do a review of this week and then look forward onto the near future.

Eminem And Snoop Dogg X Bored Apes At the VMAs

The first time Eminem and Snoop Dogg have performed at the VMA's in 20 years! The performance is in partnership with @BoredApeYC and @OthersideMeta. The VMA's have recently introduced a new category called "Best Metaverse Performance" in a bid to integrate Web3 into their business model embracing the future.

The performance was an insane special effects video of their bored apes travelling to the Otherside (the bored ape creators upcoming metaverse).

Yuga Labs Creating Their Own Platform For Announcements

Unfortunately, in Web3 hacks of discords and twitters are extremely common and this leads to false NFTs being promoted by the official accounts resulting in some people losing everything in their wallets, the creators of bored apes said they believe that web2 social medias are not secure enough for web3 and now they have stepped up to the challenge and created a solution.

They have also returned to posting regularly on instagram after that was hacked alongside their twitter and discord.

Instagram And Facebook Integrate NFTs

Recently, Meta gave a few hand picked creators such as Gary Vee the ability to display NFTs on Instagram via their new function to post and display NFTs on a profile. This requires connecting a wallet such as metamask on your iPhone. Instagram users are largely much less exposed to NFTs than those on twitter so by integrating NFTs on instagram there are billions of new users that could be shown NFTs daily helping to make Web3 mainstream.

As Meta continues rolling out digital collectibles on Facebook and Instagram, they’ve started giving people the ability to post digital collectibles that they own across both Facebook and Instagram. This will enable people to connect their digital wallets once to either app in order to share their digital collectibles across both.

Y00ts NFTs

Y00ts were scheduled to be minted yesterday as part of the DeGods ecosystem but were delayed due to a blocker bug and are estimated to be minted later today! (Monday 5th sep)

Price Movements This Week

Here we will cover movements in crypto prices, Bluechip NFTs and Metaverse land

Crypto Price Movements

Ethereum had an incredible start to the week but then ranged between the 1600s and the 1500s.

This is a vast improvement from the lows of the 800 range a few months prior.

Bitcoin has also mirrored Ethereum by ranging all week but has not grown as fast recently compared to Ethereum.

Bluechip NFTs

Green line - ETH floor price

Pink line - USD value

Bored Apes Have moved down this weekly slightly in ETH floor price but USD value has remained stable and up 3%. The club continues to build nonetheless and has arguably the most potential of any NFT collection in existence. Mutant apes have also followed this trend.

Clone X the brand that has partnered with Nike has also had a slow downtrend this week but has also lost relative USD value.

Metaverse Land

Otherdeeds (Otherside land) on the other hand have both increased in USD value and Eth value breaking the downward trend of the rest of the bluechip NFT market. We got a brand new trailer for the Otherside as well which has boosted spirits.

Looking Forward

The next week will be the final week before the highly anticipated Ethereum merge AKA eth2.0 which will be the largest event in crypto history hopefully bringing us one step closer to becoming the undeniable superior financial system compared to traditional finance.
